Communications Coordinator

Department: SPR - Marketing

Sun Peaks Resort is seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to support internal and external communications across the resort and hotel. This role plays an important part in connecting employees, engaging guests, and strengthening community relationships through clear, consistent, and brand-aligned messaging.

As a member of the MarComms Team, you’ll work closely with Employee Experience (HR), Operations, and other teams, helping deliver timely updates, compelling content, and meaningful engagement initiatives across multiple platforms and audiences, both internal and external.

Compensation Information: $60,000 per annum

Physical Requirement: Medium; work activities involve handling loads up to 20kg; predominantly in an indoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of experience in communications, marketing, HR/EEX support, or a related field
  • Passion for storytelling and creating meaningful engagement
  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple projects
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, audience-focused messaging
  • Comfort working with digital tools such as intranet platforms, email newsletters, and social media
  • Knowledge of communications best practices for internal audiences (employee comms) and external stakeholders (guest/community comms)
  • Familiarity with tourism, hospitality, or resort operations is an asset
  • A passion for outdoor recreation (ski, snowboard, bike, golf) considered an asset

Primary Responsibilities:

Internal Communications & Employee Engagement:

  • Coordinate and distribute employee communications, updates, and announcements
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and internal events
  • Assist with employee surveys and feedback tools
  • Ensure consistent messaging across employee channels (digital signage, newsletters, internal platforms)
  • Contribute to internal communications planning, including emergency messaging

Content Creation & Brand Support:

  • Write and edit engaging content for newsletters, blogs, internal memos, and social media
  • Support social media content creation and scheduling
  • Assist with website updates and digital communications
  • Ensure all messaging aligns with brand standards and voice
  • Track engagement metrics and provide performance insights

Guest & Community Communications:

  • Draft and distribute guest-facing communications, including operational updates and event messaging
  • Support community relations communications for local partners and stakeholders
  • Monitor public channels and escalate concerns as appropriate
