Located 50km from Kamloops, BC, Sun Peaks Resort is a four-season resort and Canada’s second-largest ski area. The Sun Peaks Golf Course is situated in the valley bottom close to the village and is a par 72 course that winds along MacGillivray Creek valley. This Cook/Carleton design boasts the highest elevation in the province and has two distinct nines. Sun Peaks is the ideal place for any outdoor enthusiast. We seek an Irrigation Technician team member who is experienced in all aspects of golf course maintenance and will assist in bringing Sun Peaks Golf Course to the next level. If this sounds like the role for you, apply today!

Compensation Information: $22.45 per hour

Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; predominantly in an outdoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

• Minimum two years’ experience in turf and/or irrigation maintenance.
• Minimum two years’ experience operating mobile equipment.
• Working knowledge of construction, establishment and maintenance practices employed in all aspects of golf course systems.
• Must be familiar with hand and power tools used in grounds maintenance.
• Must possess and submit valid Driver’s License.
• Must be in good physical condition, able to lift heavy objects, do manual and all types of labour, and be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must be familiar with ISO 14001.
• Self-starter able to motivate and lead effectively and safely.
• Good working knowledge of current WorkSafeBC and WHMIS regulations.
• Must play and enjoy the sport of golf.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Recognize that your safety, the safety of your fellow workers and the safety of the general public is your number one job responsibility.
• Assist in training staff and completing all training records.
• Assist in all aspects of for the SPR golf course, landscapes and walking trail maintenance.
• Monitor and maintain all mechanical aspects of the irrigation systems.
• Supervise work to achieve the most efficient utilization of employees and equipment.
• Update the Golf Course Superintendent weekly on successes and challenges.
