Lift Maintenance Apprentice [Year 1 or 2]

Have you ever wanted to work in a stellar mountain resort surrounded by incredible people? We are looking to recruit a dedicated Lift Maintenance Apprentice to join our team. The Lift Maintenance Apprentice is a full-time, year-round position supporting all our chair lifts, surface lifts and passenger conveyors to ensure they operate safely and without interruption. During Winter and Summer operational periods, the Lift Maintenance Apprentice helps with lift operations and respond to problems and emergencies. During down periods, they are busy performing required maintenance and special projects. Compensation Information: $24.01 per hour

Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35kg; both in an indoor & outdoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Must meet ITA educational pre-requisites for Millwright apprentice training in British Columbia
  • strong mechanical background
  • Minimum age 18 years or older
  • Valid BC Class 5 driver's license
  • Strong computer literacy
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Good physical condition
  • Good working knowledge of the current WCB regulations as they pertain to lift maintenance
  • Able to maintain calm and respectful when in high pressure situations
  • Able to work at heights
  • Experience operating passenger ropeways in a safe and responsible manner
  • Experience operating snowmobiles, ATVs and 4x4 trucks in a safe and responsible manner
  • Available to work various shifts such as early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, etc.
  • Strong desire to develop a career in the ski industry

Primary Responsibilities:

  • To perform all duties assigned by the Lift Maintenance Manager or Lead Hand
  • Assist in ensuring all lifts are maintained according to current Z-98 code requirements and manufacturer’s recommendations
  • Respond to and follow-up on lift related mechanical issues, emergency, and evacuation situations
  • Keep good track of work performed and ensure it is recorded as required
  • Help develop existing record keeping systems
  • Assist in any emergency response situations; i.e. search and rescue, firefighting, etc.
  • Report and rectify any unsafe situation
  • Keep a clean, organized, safe work environment
  • Ensure adherence to all SPRLLP policies, agreements, and SOG’s as outlined in the current Employee Handbook and Alpine Connect
