Marketing Specialist

Do you have social media and content marketing experience? Love skiing, snowboarding, and/or mountain biking? We are looking to recruit a Marketing Specialist to join our team at Canada’s Second Largest Ski Area. As the driving force behind our industry-leading social media and content marketing activities, you will work with the Marketing & Content Manager to share Sun Peaks with the world.

While your primary focus will be executing marketing activities for Sun Peaks Resort, this is a unique shared services role between Sun Peaks Resort and the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel, designed to leverage synergies in marketing and digital strategy across both entities.

Compensation Information:

$60,000 – $65,000 per year.

Physical Requirement:

Medium. Predominantly Indoor, Occasionally Outdoor.
This role requires the ability to safely Ski or Snowboard; DH or Enduro Mountain Bike (optional).

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Accountabilities:

  • Social Media Management: Lead social media strategy and execution for Sun Peaks Resort, the Sun Peaks Bike Park, and the Sun Peaks Golf Course across Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Youtube, and Vimeo.
  • Photo and Video Content Creation: Lead in-house photo and video content creation for Sun Peaks Resort. Support Marketing & Content Manager with planning and execution of content creation in partnership with third parties.
  • Digital Advertising: Lead in-house Meta and Google advertising activities for Sun Peaks Resort, including set up, copywriting, asset creation, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Email Marketing: Lead email marketing activities for Sun Peaks Resort, including planning, creation, scheduling, and sending of regular E Newsletters and targeted sales campaigns. Assist Marketing & Content Manager with Ascent360 database utilization and management of email marketing audiences.
  • Ambassador Team: Assist Marketing & Content Manager with coordinating the Sun Peaks Ambassador Team athlete sponsorship program.
  • Snow Reporting: Assist Marketing & Content Manager with monitoring daily Snow and Grooming Report activities during the winter season.
  • Copywriting: Assist the Marketing and Communications team with copywriting, including writing, editing, and proofing webpages, blogs, update articles, and other written content.
  • Website Support: Assist the Marketing and Communications team with website updates, edits, and general management.
  • Communications Support: Support Communications activities as required, including assisting with crisis communication and operational updates.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Monitor and report on social media, digital marketing, and other related analytics. Research, identify, and monitor trends and best practices in the industry.
  • Project Support: Assist the Marketing and Communications team with idea generation, campaign execution, and other departmental projects as required.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Shared Services Support: Closely collaborate with multiple departments and business units, supporting a variety of social media and marketing initiatives. Support marketing activities at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel as required.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and develop relationships with key stakeholders within the industry and the Sun Peaks community. Work closely with Tourism Sun Peaks to manage shared social media channels.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Tourism, or a related field
  • 2 years of experience in a marketing role. Experience working in the ski resort, tourism, hospitality, or outdoor-related industry is considered an asset
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered
  • Strong social media and computer literacy is required
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal are required
  • Experience and ability in photo and/or video content creation is required
  • Experience with Meta advertising and/or Google Ads is an asset
  • Experience with MailChimp or other email marketing platforms is an asset
  • Experience with Ascent360 or other CDP/CRM platforms is an asset
  • Experience coordinating photography contractors, video contractors, and/or athletes is an asset
  • Experience with graphic design and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, InDesign etc) is an asset
  • Proficiency in managing projects and works well under pressure
  • Flexibility, willingness to learn, responsiveness, and proactivity are crucial
  • A passion for outdoor recreation. Intermediate or advanced ability in skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, and/or golf is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Weekend and holiday work required
  • Authorized to work in Canada
