Snow Shoveler

Compensation Information:

$19.85 per hour

Physical Requirement:

Heavy, work activities involve handling loads of more than 20 kg – Predominately in an outdoor setting.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

Accountabilities:

  • Work closely with Building Maintenance Manager or Snow Shoveling Supervisor and keep informed of all pertinent information
  • Monitor and fill in all daily snow removal control sheets
  • Remove snow and ice from walkways, building entrances and public areas
  • Maintain public access to several buildings in the village and on the mountain
  • Light janitorial duties, including re-supply of outhouses on the mountain
  • Be friendly and helpful to all guests at Sun Peaks
  • Ability to prioritize duties, primary locations, and secondary locations
  • Maintain organization and efficiency in the workplace
  • Operate a 2-way radio
  • Maintain all safety standards and procedures in the workplace as well as safe general conditions throughout for all customers and personnel
  • Be willing to work in cold/snowy weather

Ideal Candidate:

  • Professional, fun, and friendly with a positive attitude
  • Physically fit
  • Ability to ski/snowboard
  • BC driver’s license
  • Ability to work independently, unsupervised, and schedule/reschedule staff time effectively to meet additional workloads
  • Ability to operate snowmobiles, snow blowers, and company trucks in a safe and responsible manner
  • Recognize and analyze potential problem areas and deficiencies and rectify them with creative solutions
  • Must be able to maintain a calm, friendly manner under periods of stress and frustrations
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer literacy
  • Ability to work well with the public and promote Sun Peaks’ image
  • Dependable, reliable, and punctual
