Responsible Adult - Winter 2026/27

Are you a Responsible Adult who loves to share the stoke with everyone, young and old? We are looking to recruit Full-Time Responsible Adults for the Winter 2026-27 season! One of the best features of our Resort is our excellent childcare center, located at the base of the Sunburst and Sundance chairlifts. The Childcare Workers care for children by implementing developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for children 3-5 years old. The childcare worker shall foster cooperative social behavior to assist children in forming positive relationships and will work alongside a welcoming team. Compensation Information: $19.35 per hour

Physical Requirement: Medium; work activities involve handling loads up to 20kg; predominantly in an indoor setting. Work involves routine lifting of children, bending to child-level, sanitizing facilities, and maintaining an active care environment.

This job position requires physical presence at the designated location.

This role is eligible for an incentive for successful applicants to receive $1 per hour worked based on completion of a full winter season contract. Conditions apply to this incentive and will be shared during the interview and onboarding.

Skills you bring with you:

  • Education & Credentials: Documented completion of a minimum of 20 hours in child-related coursework or professional early childhood development training. An active British Columbia Early Childhood Educator (ECE) or ECE Assistant (ECEA) License to Practice is strongly preferred.
  • Certifications: Must possess a current, valid Child Care First Aid & CPR Certificate approved by BC provincial licensing authorities.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience working within a professional childcare, preschool, or early development facility. Proven track record of high-tier customer service in a tourism or guest-centric environment.
  • Legal & Compliance: Legally authorized to work in Canada for the 26/27 Winter season contract timeframe. Must successfully pass a BC Criminal Record Review Program (CRRP) screening prior to the employment start date. Providing proof of immunization status disclosure is required by provincial health regulations.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills to professionally interact with young children, parents, and guardians.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide a stimulating, caring, inclusive, safe, and clean care environment tailored to the social and developmental needs of children aged 3 to 5 years.
  • Ensure the physical safety of all children by continuously monitoring the playroom, identifying environmental risks, and proactively preventing health or safety hazards.
  • Promote and guide children through good personal hygiene habits, including mandatory scheduled child hand-washing routines.
  • Execute rigorous daily housekeeping and sanitization blocks during paid hours (e.g., ensuring toys, play structures, furniture, and food preparation surfaces are appropriately cleaned, disinfected, and organized).
  • Assist in preparing and dressing childcare participants registered in concurrent Sports School lessons with mandated personal protective equipment (PPE), including resort-approved helmets and securely fitted winter outerwear.
  • Execute and document a strict, written Transfer of Custody Protocol alongside the supervisory team whenever a child transitions out of the daycare floor to an on-snow instructor, and when they return.
  • Maintain strict awareness of playroom supervision, ensuring that preparation and escorting responsibilities never temporarily cause the facility to drop below BC statutory educator-to-child staffing ratios.
  • Conduct daily child check-in and check-out procedures efficiently, verifying parent identification and logging special care instructions (e.g., dietary restrictions, allergies, or medical notes).
  • Deliver exceptional customer service when greeting guests, answering phone calls, providing accurate program information, and receiving parent updates.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality regarding child files, family records, and sensitive parental communications in accordance with privacy laws and resort policies.
